Affinity Designer is a vector-based design program that competes with Adobe Illustrator. It also includes more advanced features such as gradients, blend modes such as multiply or screen , smart shapes which are vector shapes that can be modified through color or fill , and raster grids which allow you to create pixel-perfect layouts or graphics.

You can download a PNG file of your image, upload it to the site or paste into the URL of an image from another site and edit it in Erase. All formats are supported including. Many designers find themselves in situations where they need to make their image transparent, either because of some restrictions or because they want to add it over another background.

Even though there are plenty of dedicated apps that can do this task, it's often more time-efficient to do it on the fly with just the right tool — that's why we created Erase. Here are 10 reasons why you should use Erase. There are no watermarks or logos on the work unless you specifically request them, and it's really easy to upload files from your computer and remove backgrounds in just seconds.

The background removal tool works well on photos as well as vector graphics like logos and illustrations. Fading and old, grungy photos can be made new again with a few clicks of the mouse. You can upload a picture and add the text or overlay you want to put over it, before saving the image as a. PNG file.

There's no need for expensive software or intensive editing skills; all you need is some creativity. For example, the photo of the girl below was taken on an iPhone and uploaded to this website where it was converted into a file that can be downloaded and printed or used in other ways. Selecting the areas of an image you want to color can be tedious, but it's worth it for the effect you'll get on the final product. To select a part of an image, use the marquee tool and drag it around the area you want to be selected.

Then, right-click and choose Fill. You'll have a selection that is filled in with color so that you know what area will be affected when you apply a filter or other effects. When you're done selecting, click on OK at the top of your screen and then click on Apply under Effects. The selected area will now be filtered or tinted as desired.

One common photo issue is red eye, which happens when the light from a camera flash reflects off a subject's retina and causes the pupil to appear red instead of black. It can be hard to find the right balance between getting rid of the red eye and not making people look too weird or wacky in photos.

Do you have a bunch of old, unused photos on your phone? Well, instead of waiting until you use them and then deleting them, it might be a better idea to remove them from your phone as soon as possible. By smadell , November 9, in Resources. Gradient Maps are a great way to color grade photos, since they map dark, light, and midtone values according to a pre-defined gradient. Also, they are easily obtained by anyone.

Affinity Photo cannot import Photoshop gradient maps. Affinity Photo can store pre-defined gradients in the Swatches studio, but for some unknown reason the stored gradients are not available from the Gradient Map studio panel. So… after a long couple of days of transcription, I have created a set of Macros that apply each of the 38 Photographic Toning gradient maps.

Since macros are easy to store, and to share, I am making them available for anyone who wants them. There are actually 2 sets of Macros included - each as an easy-to-import Category from the Library panel. Each macro creates a Gradient Map layer, applies the appropriate color values, and names the layer according to the gradient map it applied.

This reduces the effect of the Gradient Map, and produces a much subtler effect. These macro categories are included in the ZIP file attached to this post, along with a Letter sized JPG that includes samples of the gradient maps. Also included in the ZIP file is another macro category that includes one more macro. Just because…. Photographic Toning Gradient Maps. Thanks for sharing your macros, smadell.
